Even in the worst of lives, lives in which it seems nothing has gone as
planned, when everything becomes a shambles, there are moments, bright
and lucid moments, which for some reason that is never clear, remain
with us forever. Good moments when, for only an instant in the BIG mess,
everything seems right.
This isn't the big things - birth,
marriage, moving to a new home, promotion, breaks. This is about the
most infinitesimal of moments - tiny facets in the diamond of larger
experience, things nobody else would notice or remember five minutes
after they passed. Instants that made the giant leap.
As I had
posted on my previous entries, I am working in the mountain. It is a
rural place where most people are poor in terms of money but generous in
their own way. As a teacher in their place, I really feel their
appreciation for my decision to teach in their community instead of
going with the big companies in the city. The life in there is not
simple. Every morning people wake up early just to fetch water from the
artesian pump. They carry the buckets of water for our baths. They
prepare our meals with so much hospitality and treat us as if we are
VIPs. If I were in the city, people won't be like this. They live in
shambles but a cheery atmosphere is felt in their community everyday.
Money is not a big deal as long as they eat and can reap their crops.
This I won't say that I am lucky to grew with a comfortable life. This is meant to teach me that people differs in outlook.
